Pair of 18th Century Paul Decker Fountain Scenes Etchings
About the Item
A gorgeous pair of 18th century etchings featuring battle scenes of Greco-Roman mythological characters set over a fountain. The scenes feature Hercules, the muses, cherubs, griffins, lions, bears, leopards, Pegasus and other heroes. Engraved by John Balthasar Probst and Daniel Hertz in Augsburg, Germany, circa 1720. Later hand-coloring to both pieces. Set in ebonized wood frames with grey matting and conservation glass.
