Peter Gee Target and Daisies Silkscreen Pop Art

About the Item

Pop goes this Peter Gee silkscreen in a fabulous hot pink, green and orange color way. His target and daisy panels, this one circa 1960s, was very well preserved and several have graced magazine covers. Known as a master of color, this work belonged to a prominent art collector and museum curator and is signed on Verso, A.P. and Peter Gee in pencil. It can also be hung both vertically or horizontally. Gee's posters and screen prints of this period were exhibited next to those of Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana at the word and image show in the Museum of Modern Art. His dexterity and the visual impact of his work garnered international attention on the covers of Time Magazine, look and Elle Decor. Peter Gee's work is in the collection of the MOMA; Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto; the Victoria and Albert Museum in London; the Design Museum in Zurich; the Library of Congress and the Hirshhorn Museum; the Smithsonian and the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C. In addition to Gee's career he was active in converting and preserving many of the old loft buildings in NYC including the Puck Building in Soho.
