Lieut . Genl. Winfield Scott, American Bank Note Co., #161 Engraving on paper, circa 1870, cut out and glued on strong sunken paper ( stained, rubbed and tained by age), ready to be framed in. The person who did this put a lot effort in this process as the proof appears to be an stainless steel engraving with the print of the the steel plate around the vignette and on the back. Inlay ca. 6.2 x 8.6cm Paper ca. 15.x 23.1cm Winfield Scott (*13 June 1786 in Laurel Branch near Petersburg, Dinwiddie County, Virginia; † 29 May 1866 in West Point, Orange County, New York) was an American general, diplomat and politician.
