Rare Majolica Elephant Fountain Sarreguemines, circa 1890

About

Rare Majolica elephant head fountain with an Indian adornment signed Sarreguemines. Complete with the basin and the soap holder. Measures: Fountain / H 23 inches, L 12.5 inches, D 6.4 inches. Basin / H 5.5 inches, 15.5 on 12 inches. Total height with the basin / around 30 inches with a space between the 2 pieces. A similar piece is presented in the collections of the Museum of Sarreguemines exposed in the winter garden. At the end of 19th century it's not unusual to find in the rich houses this wall fountains. Form 1912.
