Wall-Hanging by Marcello Fantoni

About

Painted in a most idiosyncratic hand, this wall-hung plate by Marcello Fantoni features a walking figure (a traveler?) with odd proportions and an inexplicably bizarre face. It is somewhat reminiscent of traditional Italian Maiolica, but with a very enigmatic, even hallucinogenic quality all its own. Signed by the artist.
