Pan's conquest of Selene original oil painting, 18th-19th century Magnificent antique oil painting of the conquest of Selene by the god Pan. In ancient Greek religion and mythology, pan is the god of nature, the wild, shepherds, flocks, of mountain wilds, and is often associated with sexuality. Selene is the goddess of the moon. She is the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, and sister of the sun-god Helios, and Eos, goddess of the dawn. The painting shows Pan seducing Selene with his flute. Original oil on canvas. Dimensions 20" x 28.5". Comes unframed. The painting is in good antique condition. The images here show the true condition of the painting.
