Early 20th Century Mounted Japanese Sakabukuro

$2,450

About

A incredible early 20th century mounted Japanese Sakabukuro, a handwoven cotton bag used to press fermented rice in the sake making process, with incredible hand-embroidered repairs from over a century of use. We've had this mounted on a linen stretched board and added wires so it can be hung vertically or horizontally. We're in love with the bold abstract sensibility of the piece, rivaling anything a modern painter could create.
