About
A large oil on canvas of a male by Peter Sheil.
This painting was painted in 1958.
Peter Sheil painted a portrait of Tallulah Bankhead in 1962 and it is in the collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Another work was done in 1956 of Kay Kendall and is at the Wilthemsea Lighthouse Museum.
This portrait has wonderful scale and the oversprayed red crown around the face give this work a modern edge. I do not know if original to the piece.
The paining has a beautiful face as well as brush technique.
