Signed in the lower right by the artist, Antoine Blanchard, the work exemplifies his celebrated Parisian views. Antoine Blanchard (1910–1988), born Marcel Masson, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes before moving to Paris in 1932 to continue his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts, where he won the Prix de Rome. Under the name Blanchard, he dedicated his career to chronicling the streets of Paris, often working from vintage postcards and depicting the same landmarks in varying seasons, times of day, and weather conditions. His street scenes are frequently compared to those of Édouard Cortès and Eugène Galien-Laloue, capturing rainy boulevards, glowing storefronts, and the vibrant rhythms of daily Parisian life. Today, his works remain highly sought after by collectors and are listed in the Benezit Dictionary of Artists.
