Original watercolor "Nantucket Twilight" of a Nantucket catboat and the steamship UNCATENA Rounding Brant Point in 1915, by Robert Spring, 1989. A very scarce watercolor by the renown scrimshaw artist Robert Spring (1938 - 2016) depicting the wooden catboat NESTOR approaching Brant Point Lighthouse and the vintage Steamship UNCATENA leaving Nantucket Harbor in the fog, signed and dated in the lower right Spring '89, copyrighted in the lower left, titled and described on the reverse. Robert Spring was famous for his scrimshaw whale's teeth, but first studied as a watercolorist and returned to painting in 1987. His paintings won many awards, and he is represented in the permanent collection of the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine.
