Pair of 19th Century Framed & Signed Oil on Panel Paintings "Walk by the Lake"
About the Item
Decorate an office, hallway or powder room with this elegant pair of antique paintings. Created in France circa 1860, and signed on the back (unreadable), each painting is set in an ornate gilded Rococo-style frame decorated with raised scroll work, shell motifs, and floral embellishments. Each artwork features a tranquil natural scene with trees, water, people strolling by the lake, and distant buildings in the background, all painted in rich, muted tones. One artwork depict a serene lakeside or riverbank village at either sunrise or sunset, judging by the warm, golden light and long shadows. The other artwork depicts more into the Romantic tradition of nature as majestic and mysterious. The paintings are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn rich colors with exquisite details. This pairing is a beautiful example of classical aesthetics designed to bring a touch of pastoral serenity into an elegant domestic space. New wiring in the back for easy installation.
