Crafted in France circa 1870, each oil on canvas composition is set in its original, richly carved giltwood frame. The vertical still lifes depict abundant arrangements of flowers, roses, peonies, lilies, and wild blooms, set against soft, atmospheric backgrounds. The artist’s skillful brushwork and luminous color palette of red, pink, green, and ivory evoke the refined romanticism of 19th-century French decorative art.
Both canvases are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with richly preserved pigments and minor touch-ups visible on the back. The gilt frames display deep relief carving with acanthus and laurel motifs, retaining their warm gold finish.
