Period Italian Neoclassical Style Signed Watercolor

About the Item

Beautiful neoclassical style artwork by the great Italian artist Vittorio Pisani Probably depicts a theatre script of Aida Signed, located and dated lower right ‘Vittorio Pisani roma 13’ This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important private collection and is beautified by an impressive antique frame in gilded wood, in almost perfect condition. Every item of our Gallery, upon request, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi official Expert in Italian furniture for the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and for the Rome Civil Courts. Vittorio Pisani (Corfu, 13 October 1899 - Vittorio Veneto, 27 April 1974) was an Italian illustrator and painter. He was the author of the famous covers of the weekly magazine La Tribuna illustrata. Born of an Italian father and a Greek mother, his father was a painter, as were his grandfather and uncle, he trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. His first paid job was during the Greek-Turkish war in 1919, at the age of 20, the design of a label for a company selling figs, which is still on the market. He became illustrator from 1922 of the weekly Tribuna illustrata, for which he created more than 4000 covers. He executed postcards for many departments of the Italian Army and mainly for the Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale. His was the painting and postcard from which the Italian Post Office postage stamp was taken, of the Carabiniere hero Salvo D'Acquisto, gold medal of v.m., created by Silvano Campeggi. He painted numerous illustrations of the Carabinieri, later published in the Tribuna Illustrata, and present, in the form of reproductions, on the walls of Italian barracks. After the war, he retired to Farra d'Alpago, Belluno, his wife's native land. His heirs, Roberto and Andrea Vittorio Pisani, take care of the archive. This artwork is shipped from Rome. Aldo Mazza (Milan, July 6, 1880 - Gavirate, July 26, 1964) was an Italian painter, publicist and illustrator. He was the son of Adelio, an accountant and dialect poet, and nephew of the romantic school painter Giuseppe Mazza (1817-1884), who had Francesco Hayez as a teacher. Aldo Mazza grew up in an atmosphere marked by art and patriotismː his father and uncle had participated in the defense of Milan, against the Austrians of Marshal Josef Radetzky. At the Academy of Brera he had as a teacher Cesare Tallone He had his first assignment as the author of satirical cartoons from "Guerin Meschino", he also drew for "Il Numero", for "L'Illustrazione Italiana", for "Il Secolo" (since 1924) and for "Il Pasquino". He was linked to the group of caricaturists of the "Frigidarium". He participated in the "Great Italian Caricature and Humor Exhibition", in 1914, organized by the newspaper "Il Numero". In 1983, in Milan, the exhibition La satira política in the drawings of Aldo Mazza was set up. He worked as a billboard artist mainly for the Bologna company Chappuis, for the Bertarelli Graphic Arts and for Ricordi, making about sixty posters...
