This incredibly iconic and rare original period Associated Press photographic print (8.25" by 6.25") was taken on Amelia Earhart's interrupted Newfoundland to Paris flight when she was forced to put down in Ballyarnott, Derry, Northern Ireland. On May 20th, 1932 Amelia landed in the cow pasture of Robert Gallagher and her plane came to rest on what is today the 14th hole of the Foyle Centre Golf Course (now known as "Amelia's Landing"). This is an original contemporary print and bears the actual retoucher's pencil and paint work to render it clearer for newspaper publication. This print is in excellent condition, has been archivally matted and framed plus bears the 1930s associated press AP monogram hand-rendered in ink to the bottom right hand corner. N.B. On July 12th, 2010 a contemporary copy of this same photograph was presented to The National Air and Space Museum, Washington DC by seven present day descendants of Robert Gallagher.
