James Bond 'Diamonds Are Forever' Original Vintage Japanese Movie Poster, 1971

About the Item

Sean Connery was paid a then record $1.25 million to return as James Bond for EON Production's 'Diamonds Are Forever,' his sixth and final outing as Bond after declining the role in 1969's 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service.' A diamond smuggling investigation leads 007 to Las Vegas, where he uncovers an extortion plot headed by his old nemesis Blofeld. This scarce Japanese two-panel STB poster features the same explosive Robert McGinnis artwork as the US One Sheet poster, depicting the suave British spy in a blaze of action, flanked by Bond girls Tiffany Case and Plenty O’Toole. The tall and slender Japanese 'STB' or 'Tatekan' poster format was printed on two standard Japanese B2 poster sheets, designed to overlap to form an awesome 58 x 20 inches for display in cinema standing boards, door panels and ticket booths. Printed in far smaller quantities than the regular B2 posters and discontinued in the mid-1970s, surviving STB posters are rare and sought after by collectors, particularly for the most beloved and iconic movie titles. CONDITION Printed on two unfolded sheets, conservation backed on linen with no restoration. Backing has smoothed the overlap between the two sheets. A few tiny nicks to edges and a 4 in. curved wrinkle to blue ground at right edge. Spots of faint edge staining to white ground. Image and colors excellent.

James Bond 'Dr. No' Original Vintage Movie Poster, Yugoslavian, 1962
Located in Devon, GB
Based on Ian Fleming's novel of the same name, the 1962 release of 'Dr. No' first introduced the world to one of the most enduring characters in Western cinema and kicked off one of the most successful film franchises of all time. Suave British spy James Bond travels to Jamaica to investigate the disappearance of a fellow agent, where he battles a megalomaniac scientist bent on disrupting the US space programme. In the same way that the first film established many of the themes and visual aspects that came to be associated with the James Bond series, the first film posters set a template for the visual representation of Bond that has seen little deviation over the past 60 years. Based on a design by David Chasman, illustrator Mitchell Hooks...

James Bond 'Moonraker' Original Vintage Australian Daybill Movie Poster, 1979
Located in Devon, GB
Capitalising on the sci-fi space craze in the wake of 'Star Wars,' EON Productions opted to postpone filming 'For Your Eyes Only' in favour of loosely adapting Ian Fleming's 'Moonraker' as the eleventh instalment in the James Bond series. And so Roger Moore's fourth outing as agent 007 saw him head into outer space to prevent a plot to wipe out the world population and recreate humanity with a master race. Despite production costs more than double those of 'The Spy Who Loved Me' (1977), the space-age lark became the highest grossing 007 movie to date, until usurped by 'Goldeneye' in 1995. The Australian Daybill poster featured the same spectacular silvery artwork by American artist Daniel Goozee as the British and US poster campaigns, which pictured Bond in a spacesuit rather than his typical tux. Although a similar format, Australian day bills are significantly rarer than US insert posters.
