Mickey Mouse, Silly Symphony

About the Item

Original French film poster for Mickey Mouse - Silly Symphony 1938. To-date this is believed to be the only known surviving example. The Silly Symphonies were a series of seventy-five short animations produced by Walt Disney, which started in 1929 and ended in 1939. The Silly Symphonies were originally intended as animated accompaniments to music. The early animations were in black and white, and then went on to use the newly invented Technicolor. The series also introduced Donald Duck to the big screen in The Wise Little Hen in 1934. It was a very popular series, which went on to launch a Disney media franchise, including a newspaper comic strip and a number of children's books. This poster is in excellent condition, with the colors remaining very bright with minor restoration to the folds. The poster is Linen-backed and conservation framed with UV plexiglass in an Sapele wood frame. The size given is before framing the framed size is 65 1/2 x 49 1/2 in. (165.9 x 125.1 cm) The poster would be boxed and sent out by Federal Express.

    Repaired: This piece is in excellent condition, with the colour remaining very bright with only very minor restoration to folds. This is quite standard as this piece was distributed folded. Wear consistent with age and use.
