Her father Alessandro Vaiani was an artist and was brought up and worked in Rome. In 1647 she married Jacques Courtois, another artist, but it was not a success. Vaiani specialized in botanical engravings, although her first recorded work was the completion of her father's paintings in the Pope's Capella Segreta in Rome.
