"Elaborately framed gilded / gold leaf giclee print of “Eternal Separation” by Manuel Nunez in 2000, pencil signed and numbered 15/75. The art shows a female figure in a long white gown with a golden halo behind her head, standing in a colonnade, under an arch of flowering branches, framed on either side with panels of gold leaf. “Manuel Nunez Spanish Artist: b. 1956. ""My images are of strong women,"" Nunez says. ""Beautiful, but not exploited. Women who are sensual and virtuous; wrestling with the underlying conflict of what life is versus what it should be."" Nunez describes the symbolism in his work in the words of a biblical scholar. Not firebrand, but a gentle imparting of the tenets of his belief. Almost every stroke is alive with the artist's own faith and the objects which serve to keep that spirit always in his sight. Manuel Nunez was born in 1956, into a family versed in the arts and Latino culture. His father, Manuel Nunez Sr., was a well known singer and song writer who recorded nine Spanish-language albums in the 1950's. ""I listen to his music all of the time, but it's only now that I really appreciate his music and what he was doing with it."" It could be said that in this atmosphere, the spirituality which shaped his creativity was upon the artist from his first breath. As he grew, it was then only a short leap of logic to jump from an exploration of his creative spirit to his human spirituality. It was a larger leap to then explore his way back from his religious roots to his art. Yet in that very transcendence is the brilliance in which the art of Nuñez resides. The use of his trademark - a hand-applied 23-karat gold leaf - is indicative of the spiritual roots of the artist and its interpolation into his work. ""The gold itself is a dichotomy,"" he explains. ""Gold can, at the same time, symbolize decadence or indulgence and the righteous purity shown in Russian icon art...

King’s childhood was one of exotic experience and privileged education. After graduating from La Martiniére College in Calcutta, the sixteen-year-old King sailed to England to attend Bournemouth College of Art. There he studied painting, sculpture, architecture and theatre design. Subsequently, he spent seven years as the resident scenic designer at the Oxford Playhouse Theatre. In 1961, he decided to concentrate on painting, and he moved to Paris, where he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and the Louvre. It was there that he developed his impressionistic style, influenced by the wealth of examples of European masters. Mark King describes his approach to painting as ninety percent preparation. “It takes a great deal of time for me but once I begin, I work with great impetus, with immense bursts of energy. It is not until the last ten or fifteen minutes before completion that I am able to see where the painting is going and to catch the mood of the moment.” Change has played an important role in both King’s art and life. “I have a need, artistically, for exposure to new ideas and images,” he says, and it was this need that brought him to America in 1968, a move that prompted a shift in his working methods. Neatly framed in a handmade and painted Safari like frame Wayland Moore, AMERICAN (1935 - ) Since Wayland Moore has worked so effectively in the sports idiom, reference to him as an ""artistic triple threat"" would not be an inappropriate analogy. He has not only reached a height plateau of competency, he as received critical acclaim as an illustrator, cartoonist and painter. As an illustrator, much in demand, he is one of the few Southerners belonging to the Society of Illustrators of New York. In 1967, his work for the Sarasota, Florida Herald-Tribune won him a nomination for a Pulitzer Prize in editorial cartooning. After graduation from high school in Belton South Carolina where e received his first art training, Moore majored in commercial design at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida. Since graduation he has worked he has worked for a design house in Greenville, South Carolina as art director for an NBC-TV affiliate, art director for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and as senior illustrator with an Atlanta studio. In 1971 he opened Wayland Moore Studios which is located at Atlanta Stadium where Moore serves as graphics director for the Atlanta Braves, combining his career interests in art with his leisure time love of sports. In addition to the Pulitzer Prize nomination, is a book consisting of his Florida Sketches, a front page cartoon that is included in the permanent collection of Walt Disney Studios in California, a scholarship offered in his name by the Ringling School of Art and a string of artistic assignments that have included coverage of the Indianapolis 500, PGA Golf Tournaments, Can-Am races and, perhaps the greatest spots hustle of all time, the Billie Jean...
