A wonderful 19th Century Italian religious textile banner with beautifully colored Our Lady Of Sorrows Mary, Mother of Jesus oleograph, original backing, rod, rope, fringe and tassels. Italy; circa 1860s Dimensions: (approx) 20" High, 18" Wide (bar), 13.5" Wide (panel), 1" Deep Detailed condition report: Good original unrestored antique condition with nicely aged heavily worn distressed patina. Attractive appearance. Mostly intact, with some scattered losses, creasing, staining, few spots with hard white buildup, dings to final. Due to the delicate nature of antique textiles, and our preference to retain as much antique character and charm as possible, we have not attempted to clean it in anyway. As-Is / As-Photographed. A French religious tapestry from Paris, circa 17th century, size 11' H x 11' W. This magnificent handwoven wool and silk wall hanging envisions the marriage of the New Testament figures, Mary and Joseph, with the High Priest flanked by Mary and Joseph at center and a dove above them, and with the central figures attended by a noblewoman and a group of men, and with a mother and child seated in the right foreground. The central scene is enclosed within a border that is characterized by upper and lower central cartouches, supported by putti. It contains a star above, and the armorial of Pierre Guischard below. Six additional cartouches containing the symbols of the Evangelists run through the rest of the border, interspersed with fruiting and flowering elements, decorative swags, and birds.
