Germantown textile

About the Item

Germantown textile By the mid- to late 19th century, weavers incorporated borders into their textiles, as seen here. The border in this textile creates a visual frame for an all-over composition. Notice the tassels at the top and bottom of the textile: most Germantown blankets have this finishing adornment, and weavers place them after they have finished weaving the textile.
