Louis XVI Aubusson Wool & Silk Tapestry, 18th Century : Games in the Park

About the Item

Charming wool and silk tapestry - 18th century production (Louis XVI period circa 1780) attributed to Aubusson Manufacture. It pictures two young boys playing in the gardens : one is doing archery and the other one is playing skipping rope, the castle in the background. Original border decorated with ribbons and acanthus leaves. Ideal size : reasonable width to make it easy to place on top of any console, commode, but tall enough to produce a very decorative effect. The colors are extremely fresh ; the reds are still there which is quite rare : they usually have faded a lot after over 200 years. Some wear and old restorations (which is almost always the case on such antique tapestries), but the whole piece is in excellent condition given its age and charming, no structural issue. Beautiful piece. The tapestry was lined with a canvas and is ready for hanging on the wall.
