Mid Century Tapestry Les Brochets by Jean Lurçat

About the Item

Large Mid Century Tapestry designed by Jean Lurcat and probably produced by Corot. Very colorful fishes, butterflies and starfishes are depicted on a large black background. The theme "Les Brochets" depicts a flock of pike in a nocturnal aquatic vision. Out of the water, on a background, the themes dear to Lurcat like butterflies and stars. Recently mounted on a wooden frame, the tapestry shows signs of aging and two imperceptible repairs made by a very good craftsman.
