under the Seven Planets Parade Célia Picard & Hannes Schreckensberger Tapestry

About the Item

Under The Seven Planets Parade These tapestries made of thick mutton wool fabrics are more than just decorative elements, they are protective envelopes, reminiscent of elemental architecture. Mystic symbols of animals, plants and cosmological constellations adorn these non-woven fabrics. Each one is like a protective talisman. The symbols are inspired by oracular decorations discovered in Greece on historical embroidered textiles, ancient ceramics and vernacular architecture. French-Austrian artist duo Célia Picard & Hannes Schreckensberger live and work in Montpellier, France. Their research/creation work between art, architecture and design is developed at the scale of the object, of the space, of the performance and of the edition. The enigmatic forms that they propose stimulate us to invent new uses and new rituals. Tha wall tapestries were made during a artist residence at the Greek Island of Sifnos.
