Shiromuku is a wedding kimono originally worn at weddings in samurai families, the shiromuku has become one type of wedding kimono worn by brides in Japan. White has symbolized the sun’s rays since ancient times, and from the Heian period, white bridal kimonos became prized. “White” has also been regarded as a sacred color for many years, so Japanese people have believed shiromuku to be suitable for the wedding ceremony held at sacred and religous places. A vintage midcentury collectable Japanese ceremonial kimono. One of a kind handcrafted fabulous Museum quality ceremonial kimono in pure white silk with intricate detailed silver hand-embroidery of cranes throughout accented with floral lame threads work that depicts, cranes and nature designs, all of them traditional symbols of prosperity and auspiciousness. It is supposed to trail along the floor, this is also why it is heavily padded along the hem. Fully lined, circa 1960. Neck-to-sleeve's cuff's hem measures 22 1/4", sleeve's length is 40", Length measures 57".
