  • Vintage American Hand Hooked Rug in Multicolor Block Pattern in Green, Blue, Red
    Located in Barrington, IL
Vintage American hand hooked rug in a stripe pattern handcrafted in the 2nd quarter of the 1900s. The hand hooked rug is in a multicolor block pattern in various brilliant colors. The hooked rugs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries are made with recycled old material, often used clothing that had been cut into narrow stripes. The foundation of hooked rugs is generally burlap material which the maker uses the stenciling technique to transfer the pattern into the surface. Once the design has been transferred to burlap, it would then be filled with the recycled material stripes and more recently yarn using the hooking technique. Because of the delicacy in the material and construction of vintage hand hooked rugs...
