Vintage Moroccan Tapestry Area Rug in Magenta, Blue, Green, Gold, Purple
About the Item
Hand-Crafted vintage Moroccan "Boucherouite" tapestry rug in colorful “ultra-modern” geometric design with brilliant colors including red, pink, blue, green, purple, brown, and yellow. The woven pattern and the use of bright colors is reminiscent of the abstract paintings by Josef Albers or Paul Klee. In addition, it is also similar to the African American southern quilts from Gee’s Bend, Georgia . It makes this an ideal tapestry wall art or a carpet as a centerpiece of any design.

- Vintage American Hand Hooked Rug in Multicolor Block Pattern in Green, Blue, RedLocated in Barrington, ILVintage American hand hooked rug in a stripe pattern handcrafted in the 2nd quarter of the 1900s. The hand hooked rug is in a multicolor block pattern in various brilliant colors. The hooked rugs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries are made with recycled old material, often used clothing that had been cut into narrow stripes. The foundation of hooked rugs is generally burlap material which the maker uses the stenciling technique to transfer the pattern into the surface. Once the design has been transferred to burlap, it would then be filled with the recycled material stripes and more recently yarn using the hooking technique.
