18th Century Giltwood Hand-Carved Barometer - Thermometer

About

18th century giltwood hand-carved barometer - thermometer is a remarkable instrument of technology that is surprisingly accurate, especially for being over 200 years old! Hand-carved casework features sculptures of lovebirds on top surrounded by a floral wreath, indicating this was presented as a wedding gift to a lucky couple. Considered the Weather Channel of its day, those fortunate enough to have them could prepare for unexpected weather developments over the horizon and out of sight. Original giltwood finish and enamel dial add a spectacular touch! circa 1780s Measures: 43 H x 18 W x 4 D.
