Framed 16th Century Italian Painting of Madonna and Child with Amber

About the Item

16th century Italian oil painting of Madonna and Child framed with 17th century Italian fragments and adorned with natural-forming amber. The painting is a depiction of the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus. It is framed with the coordinating hand-carved floral fragments. The piece is bejeweled with raw amber to look as though it naturally grew from the piece. The piece was collected and preserved by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. She transformed and framed the painting with the natural specimens and hand-carved floral fragments and the period and date of manufacture shows that the painting is originally 16th century. This painting was collected, preserved, and transformed with the elements to create a sacred and historically significant work of art to grace any wall.
