Italian early 19th century Neo-Classical st. marble and Ormolu plaque

About the Item

A handsome and most decorative Italian early 19th century Neo-Classical st. Rosso Verona, Black Belgian marble and Ormolu plaque of Bacchus. The wonderful oval plaque is set within an elegantly mottled Rosso Verona marble frame. The god of wine Bacchus is showcased at the center and is in front of a Black Belgian marble background. Bacchus is displayed in a classical flowing garment while holding an amphora in his right hand and a chalice in his left. A wonderful tree is standing beside him with abundant grape vines and grape clusters cascading onto the ground. Wonderfully decorative and attention to detail throughout.
