Vintage Israeli Brutalist Metal Art Relief Sculpture Signed ARAELLA

About the Item

This is a stunning piece of vintage Israeli artistry. The style, use of mixed metals, and the thick, textured application immediately place it in the desirable Mid-Century Modern (MCM) Brutalist movement, which was very popular among Israeli artisans in the 1960s and 1970s (often referred to as "Brutalist Judaica," though this piece appears more abstract/architectural). This is an exceptionally striking piece of authentic vintage Israeli art, signed by the artist אראלה (Araella / Araelah). It is a stunning example of the Mid-Century Modern Brutalist aesthetic that flourished in Israel during the 1960s and 1970s. The composition is abstract, featuring a captivating mix of architectural and organic forms. It evokes an ancient or stylized cityscape, perhaps a cubist view of Jerusalem or a spiritual, abstracted landscape. High Relief Sculpture: The foreground is built up with thickly applied and textured brass or copper elements, creating dramatic depth and shadow. The metal shows evidence of welding, casting, or forging, giving it that distinct, powerful Brutalist texture. Stone Inclusions (Unique Feature): The artist has embedded several polished semi-precious stones/cabochons into the metalwork, including a prominent deep red/orange Carnelian or Agate stone and smaller amber/yellow and possibly blue accents. This mixed-media approach adds unexpected pops of color and luxury against the raw metal backdrop. Frame: Housed in its original, wide-profile hardwood frame with a warm, natural finish, perfectly complementing the metal tones and completing the vintage Mid-Century look.
