The 1stDibs Luxury E-Commerce Report 2025 highlights a landscape defined by two major trends: the continuing popularity of Art Deco, which celebrates its centennial this year, and the resurgence of Y2K style, 25 years after its debut. Together, these reveal a market that is looking back at the last hundred years to define what modern luxury is today.<\/p>\n A century ago, the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts D\u00e9coratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris gave an official name to a glamorous, thoroughly modern style that had been gaining fans for some time, in France and internationally. Today, that popularity has returned with remarkable force. As an example, searches on 1stDibs for “art deco chandelier<\/a>” jumped 99% in Q1, while “art deco rings<\/a>” and “art deco jewelry<\/a>” remained high-volume terms throughout 2025. (Even Deco’s more organic, voluptuous precursor, Art Nouveau, has enjoyed increasingly serious interest). Our top Art Deco sale of the year was a signed Albert Cheuret “H\u00e9rons” chandelier, circa 1925, which fetched $65,323.<\/p>\n Simultaneously, we have witnessed a powerful resurgence of Y2K style<\/a>, as the trends from 25 years ago transition from recent memory into true vintage. This “New Millennium” nostalgia has revitalized brands like Versace<\/a>, which saw a 12% year over year growth in orders. After the September passing of Giorgio Armani, enthusiasm for his modern expression of these elegant aesthetics in clothing saw year over year growth of 71%.<\/p>\n Americana Chic<\/a><\/p>\n\t The year of Beyonc\u00e9’s Cowboy Carter<\/em> tour produced a rise in interest in Americana, with an emphasis on Indigenous craftsmanship, turquoise jewelry and Western-inflected design. This translated into strong search demand for all things Ralph Lauren, as well as for vintage Dior saddle bags, Gucci horsebit loafers, Navajo rugs, squash-blossom jewelry and horse paintings.<\/p>\n The New Naturalism<\/a><\/p>\n\t Organic materials, nature-inspired forms and ergonomic design added up to a kind of primal comfort. In furniture, softly sculpted designs like the Womb chair and the sinuous de Sede sofa jumped in searches, as did natural materials like wicker, bamboo, alabaster and marble. Interest spiked in biomorphic lighting from Isamu Noguchi and Ingo Mauer, as well as in comfortcore pieces like lounge chairs, rockers and daybeds. Figurative painting and animal-centric works dominated art searches. The trend continues in 2026, with the 17th-century horse portrait The Grey Arabian<\/em> becoming the\u00a0 fifth-most-expensive artwork of the year, going for $159,529.<\/p>\n Y2K Style<\/a><\/p>\n\t Twenty-five years into this millennium, high fashion and pop culture both turned to look back at its start. Versace – whose Spring 2000 gown, worn by Jennifer Lopez at that year’s Grammys, led to the invention of Google Image Search – had a banner year, with 12% year over year growth in orders. Y2K-era statement dressing surged, and searches for vintage Roberto Cavalli fashion, Christian Dior pink bags and Voyage clothing heated up. Dramatic showpieces from the mid-aughts were heavily viewed and saved.<\/p>\n Heirloom Bridal<\/a><\/p>\n\t It was a year of celebrity brides, from Zendaya and Taylor Swift to Charli XCX, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez, whose sartorial choices fueled dramatic search spikes. “Wedding gown dresses” was the most-searched clothing term, spiking 231% in Q1. Legacy designers Dior, Valentino and Ralph Lauren landed in the top 10 of all wedding dress searches. Jewelry followed suit, with interest in vintage cuts, legacy motifs and high-romance diamonds ignited by celebrity choices.<\/p>\n Trending in Furniture & Lighting<\/p>\n Stressless Seating<\/a><\/p>\n\t Searches for “stressless chairs” shot up 41% quarter over quarter in Q1. Although Ekornes designs are still made today, nothing beats the patina of aged leather on the original releases from the early 1970s.<\/p>\n Vintage Glass<\/a><\/p>\n\t Lighting by Fontana Arte, with its elegant simplicity, and pieces by Barovier&Toso and J.T. Kalmar, with their expressive shapes, were much in demand. Kalmar and Barovier&Toso were the fifth- and sixth-most-purchased furniture and lighting creators this year, while Fontana Arte saw 4% order growth that propelled it to the number-12 spot.<\/p>\n Table Read<\/a><\/p>\n\t Although the multipurpose coffee table remained the most-searched-for table type in 2025, searches for niche and single-use designs spiked. Searches for “pool tables” rose 37% quarter over quarter in Q1 as customers hunkered down for the winter, while “small drinks table” searches climbed 70% quarter-over-quarter in Q3. Most surprising: Searches for “drafting tables” increased by double digits in Q1 and Q3.<\/p>\n\t Trending in Art<\/p>\n Viva Picasso<\/a><\/p>\n\t True to form, the Spanish maestro dominated, with 54% year over year growth in orders. “Picasso” was the second-most-searched art-related term, reminding us that his revolutionary role in modern art continues to have an impact.<\/p>\n Spotlight on Dani<\/a><\/p>\n\t Ranking fourth on our list of top-selling artists, after Picasso and Dali, is Dani Humberstone, a contemporary British artist whose small-scale paintings sell for under $300.
