Ancient Cypriot Bichrome Amphora<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\t

Typically produced on a pottery wheel, this style of bichrome ware originated in early Iron Age Phoenicia and spread to Cyprus, where it came to dominate. It is characterized by black and red lines, often interspersed with geometric, floral or zoomorphic decorations. This piece, dating to 700\u2013600 BC (known as the Cypro-Archaic period), is intact and unrestored, displaying astonishingly vibrant, well-preserved pigment.<\/p>\n\t
