Over the years we have accumulated a large portfolio of our own product designs, as well an extensive collection of unique objects, furniture and art. So it was only a matter of time before we launched our own retail division, which we called BY HZI. Apart from selling our collections through a dedicated ecommerce website, we give our customers an opportunity to experience them first-hand: in our own independent pop-up stores as well as through collaborations with other brands we admire.

Our first concept was inspired by Brazilian Modernism, and to showcase the collection we took a month-long residency at Frescobol Carioca - a natural partner-brand through its aesthetic and ethos: that you can bring the Carioca spirit to your everyday life, wherever you are. The installation, in the lower ground floor space of Frescobol Carioca’s Notting Hill store, invited members of the public into an environment that recalled the intensity of experiencing Rio. The idea was not to recreate Rio, but to bring the spirit into play within the London context; so we combined iconic Brazilian designs (like the Sergio Rodrigues furniture) with products from all over the world, including bespoke pieces from our own Studio.
