The Cottage
When MMI founder, Meg, happened upon a neglected summer cabin in close proximity to extended family in Sunapee, NH, she immediately saw the opportunity to turn it into an heirloom home for her family to enjoy for years to come. Ripping everything down to
the studs, she reimagined the floor plan, focusing on a seamless balance between open concept living and intimate spaces for guests. Finishes, furniture and textiles create a feeling of nostalgia and eclecticism, creating a fresh take on the word: cottage.
At the heart of this home is the kitchen and family room - filled with unexpected combinations that set the tone for the rest of the cottage. The kitchen features aubergine
and cream custom cabinets with hand painted terracotta tiles. The family room is a blend of vintage Brutalist and Scandinavian pieces as well as new furniture, with plenty
of patterned, colorful textiles. Every corner exudes warmth and character, honoring the cottage’s storied past while embracing more modern design elements and comforts. The result is an infusion of vibrant, unexpected color with a cozy atmosphere.
