French Art Deco Celluloid Bracelet Bangle with Blue and Pink Sponge Design
About the Item
A striking 1920s French Art Deco celluloid bracelet bangle. It features a light hollow tube shape with a sponge paint application design all around the bracelet.
The hollow bracelet technique is an ancient technique applied to jewelry at the turn of the 20th Century. The celluloid material was used as a flat sheet, then cut by hand and painted, stained, or sprayed with paint. Each small piece of material was then heated around a wooden stick to form a tube. When the hollow tube was cool enough, it was re-heated round and sealed to close it and shape the bracelet. Thus when you look closely at the bracelet, you can see the seam on the inner edge and the seal on the circumference.
This bracelet has a delicate design with blue and fuchsia pink colors contrasted with an off-white background. This bracelet is striking and unique.
Measurements: Inside across is 3 in. diameter (7.6 cm) - outside across is 3.69 in. diameter (9.4 cm) - width is 0.38 in. wide (1 cm) - inner circumference is 9.39 in. long (23.86 cm). It will best fit a Large wrist, from 7 to 9 in. in circumference (18 to 23 cm). Note you can wear this bracelet on the top of the forearm or the upper arm if your wrist is smaller. Flapper girls wore it like that in the Art Deco era.
Be sure to check measurements and ask as many questions as you want before placing your order. This item is a final sale, no returns will be accepted for an unfit size.
