Early 20th Century Native American Leather Ketoh/ Bow Guard Bracelet

Buyer Protection Guaranteed

Massive vintage dark green and brown turquoise stone cabochon ketoh or Native American bow guard. These bow guards were not made commercially and older pieces are extremely rare.

Used by a Native American archer to protect his wrist from the snapback of his bow while shooting, this piece is well worn in and was likely used frequently by the original owner. The thick leather is soft and smooth and faded in just the right places. The large turquoise stone is smooth but has almost no shine to it which brings out the subtle natural color of the turquoise. The piece is handmade by a skilled artisan and is very sturdy despite its age. Sourced locally here in Nevada, this bow guard is likely from a local Northern Nevada tribe.
