Maria Samora, Taos Pueblo, Diamond and Oxidized Sterling Silver Cuff

About the Item

This colorless diamond, 18-karat yellow gold, and oxidized sterling silver “Flower" cuff bracelet was created in 2010 by award-winning Indigenous (Native American, Taos Pueblo) jeweler Maria Samora. Handmade by Samora Studio in Taos, New Mexico, each of Samora’s pieces is unique. While the cuff is wide, the design emphasizes its openness, airiness, and elemental connection to the wearer and the environment. It is a fabulous piece to wear year-round, alone or stacked with other bracelets. The cuff is a standard size. Maria Samora (Taos Pueblo, b. 1975) is a Native American jeweler from Taos, New Mexico. She trained under master goldsmith Phil Poirier for a decade, from whom she learned many traditional jewelry-making techniques. She launched her brand in 2005, combining conventional methods with newer technologies (like 3D printing and CAD design), aiming to break the boundaries of stereotypical Native American jewelry. Samora grew up with her family in Taos, and her work reflects her deep native roots and traditions. The natural world of Taos forms the essence of each piece, combining the raw beauty of nature with timeless elegance, her Native American culture, and a contemporary edge. Samora designs her mostly one-of-a-kind pieces to be worn effortlessly together, prioritizing comfort and wearability. Her designs are clean, simple, and elegant, with her most characteristic pieces being contemporary and geometric. She loves mixing metals to create contrast, especially incorporating her signature textured oxidized silver with the shine of polished 18-karat yellow gold. Samora first exhibited at the Santa Fe Indian Market in 2005 and has since won first prize multiple times. In 2018, she was honored with a Living Treasure award and the exhibition "Maria Samora: Master of Elegance" by the Museum of Indian Arts & Culture. Her designs are featured in museums and galleries nationwide and at her studio in Taos.
