Due to the nature of the ornamentation deriving from glass, opposed to painted alternatives, the vibrant colour does not fade under ultraviolet light and it retains useful properties such as being smooth, hard, durable and easy to clean. ** Gate bracelets came into fashion during the Victorian era.
