About

A striking and unusual bracelet formerly property of Mlle. Coco Chanel.

4 rows of gilt fox chain are separated by glass pastes in colors reminiscent of Chanels famous clover brooches. A sea of faux amythests, topazes, emeralds and crystal are clasped with a large cabochon emerald pate de verre cabochon held by pronged faux pearls.

Evidently as Mlle Chanel became stricken with arthritis in her later years, she had Monsieur Goossens, her jeweler, develop an easier method of entry into this bracelet. Mssr. Goossens has recounted that he cleverly used velcro (which was an innovation 60 years ago)and crimped the edges of the metal to form a clasp which was much easier to manuver than the traditional tongue/box closure. On the obverse, the velcro pad is wired down into the bracelet. This evidently served its purpose without being visible to the onlooker. Historically unique bracelet previously owned by Mlle Coco Chanel (with a wonderful back story). 7.5" x 2' wide.
