Art Deco Ruby Diamond Bracelet Pair in Platinum, circa 1925

About the Item

This pair of Art Deco Vintage Ruby Diamond Bracelets hits all the spectacular notes of the Jazz Age. The bracelets are crafted in platinum and composed of articulated links set with 32 square and calibré-cut rubies, and 352 diamonds for the pair (176 diamonds per bracelet), including round brilliant and baguette-cut weighing approximately 13.00-14.00 carats total of G-H color, and VS clarity. The rubies are accompanied by report from American Gemological Laboratories (AGL) stating that 29 of the tested rubies are natural, with no gemological evidence of heat, and 3 are synthetic, and by a secondary from the same institution stating that 30 of the tested rubies are natural, with no gemological evidence of heat, and 2 are synthetic. Articulated bracelets such as this stunning pair reflects the opulence of Art Deco design engineered for the time and were immensely popular in the 1920s. The central buckle motif is echoed twice in the bracelet—at the center point and at the seamless clasp—effectively creating two fluidly articulated sections or plaques of graduated calibré rubies flanked by pavé-set round diamonds. The focal point of the buckle design is a square step-cut ruby embellished with pavé-set diamonds all over. The center link is flanked by smaller rounded barrel-roll links of channel-set baguette diamonds flanked by calibré rubies. Expanding outward, the barrel-roll links are flanked by two half-buckles, like reversed and squared-off parentheses embellished with more calibré rubies. For jewelry in the Art Deco style, custom geometric cuts like the calibré-cut rubies in this pair of bracelets were paramount, typically small rectangles, squares, oblongs, or other specialty shapes cut to specifically to fit very closely together in a jewelry design. Here, these precious red gemstones are tightly set against one another to create an innovative industrial feel; akin to the details on an automobile. This pair of bracelets, with so many instances of these custom cuts to be studied and enjoyed, pay beautiful homage to the shimmering opulence, clean lines, and perfect proportions of the Machine Age. Ruby diamond bracelets of the 1920s were highly coveted by the fashionable elite of the time. They were worn as statement pieces at glamorous events and soirées, reflecting the spirit of the era. The combination of fiery red rubies and sparkling diamonds created a captivating visual impact that exuded luxury and sophistication. Today, these vintage ruby diamond bracelets from the 1920s are highly sought after by collectors and jewelry enthusiasts. They represent a bygone era of elegance and style, and their timeless beauty continues to captivate admirers and serve as a testament to the exquisite craftsmanship of the Art Deco period. Each bracelet measures approx. 7” (17.78 cm) in length. Total weight of 2 bracelets: 352 diamonds, weighing approx. 13.00-14.00 carats total, estimated G-H color, VS clarity (each bracelet: 176 diamonds, weighing approx. 6.50-7.00 carats total). Two reports from AGL regarding the rubies noted above. Made in Platinum. Shows signs of normal wear. Can be sold separately. Please message direct for a price quote. Crafted circa 1925.
