1870s Antique Diamond Deer Stag and Arrow Brooch

About

A very unusual and large Antique Diamond Stag and Arrow Brooch. The deer body and the arrow are set with rose-cut diamonds of ca. 4-5 carats, rubies and an emerald. The piece is made in yellow gold. The symbol of a stag and an arrow can be traced back to the ancient greek goddess Artemis, the goddess of wild animals, hunting, forestry, childbirth and virginity and has since often been used by aristocratic families for their family crests. The stag symbol is still used in modern TV series "Game of Thrones".
