About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive enamel and seed pearl, 12 karat yellow gold mourning brooch; part of our diverse antique jewelry collections. This exceptional, fine and impressive antique brooch has been crafted in 12k yellow gold. The brooch has a rounded rectangular form, ornamented with a scrolling leaf decorated border. The surface of the brooch is embellished with twenty impressive seed pearls. The pearls are encompassed with a band of impressive black hot enamel bearing the elucidating wording 'In Memory Of'. The center of the brooch is ornamented with further black enamel incorporating a scrolling foliate design accented with a blue enamel decorated buds and floral motifs. The posterior of this exceptional Victorian brooch is ornamented with the contemporary engraved inscription 'Richardson Borradaile Esqr Obt 18, May, 1835, at 73'. The brooch secures to the reverse with a hinged pin and clasp. This mourning brooch with pearls has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as 12 karat gold. Images do not always reflect the true color and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual color and showcases each stone. Condition This impressive antique Victorian brooch is exceptional quality, set with impressive seed pearls. This mourning brooch with pearls is an exceptional gauge of gold and is in exceptional condition.
