About the Item
A gorgeous antique, early Edwardian gold fly brooch.
A slim yellow gold bar brooch mounted with a jewelled fly.
The fly is crafted from 9 karat yellow gold with textured wings and is set with a single peridot and mother of pearl.
A very nice combination of stones that work well with the rich antique gold.
The Victorian's began somewhat of an obsession with insect themed jewels from scarabs to spiders, entomology was increasingly popular with insects appearing in many places not least jewellery.
They were seen as an exotic fashion and this carried on into the early 20th century.
Stamped 9ct to the wing.
It has a base metal pin and variation c type clasp and a 9 karat gold safety chain.
Condition:
Good used condition overall, light surface wear commensurate with age.
