The natural unheated sapphires (probably from Burma), are a bright vivid blue, they are estimated to weigh 4.5 cts. Art Deco platinum, diamond and Burma ruby clip/hair barrette, c. 1920. This is a striking Art Deco statement possessing very fine and unusual fancy cut diamonds and natural unheated Burma rubies This piece can be worn either as a brooch or as a hair barrette. The diamonds are extremely rare and visually exciting to encounter. In the trade these are known as French cut diamonds. They are colorless to near colorless (F/G), and very very slightly included to very slightly included (VVS-VS). The estimated diamond weight is 9.5 cts. The natural unheated Burma rubies are a vivid red color, they are estimated to weigh 3.74 cts. The design of this geometric brooch is superb and contains unusually fine materials set with the highest of craftsmanship; and, visually presents itself as striking and vibrantly vivid. This clip was made so that it could be worn on fabric or in the hair as a barrette. The double stems in the back are slightly curved so that they can both slide through fabric smoothly, and comfortable and easy to wear in the hair.
