Early Victorian Silver Enameled Emerald + Table Cut Diamond Pin/Brooch

About the Item

A breathtaking brooch or pin from the Victorian (ca1860s) era! Crafted in sterling silver, the ornate scrollwork is decorated with elegant hues of orange, green, teal, and royal blue enamel throughout. Amidst the scrollwork and bezel-set emeralds, you will find four small bezel-set table-cut diamonds. In the center of the brooch rests a light green emerald-cut emerald weighing approximately 1.25cts which is surrounded by four other emerald-cut emeralds weighing approximately .14-.20cts. Each bezel is encompassed by a rope motif border at the base of the bezel. At either side of the main piece of this brooch hangs two pin-set emerald beads with a jade-like hue. Dangling from the main section of the brooch is another enameled sterling piece featuring five more small emeralds, with the largest at the center weighing approximately .20cts. Another pin-set emerald bead dangles from this piece as well. At the back of the brooch, you will see a hinged pin and loop closure. The pin is marked with Austro-Hungarian hallmarks. There are two "A's" in boxes as well as "HB". The pin closure is marked the same, but we also see a faded dog's head with the number 3. This brooch/pin is absolutely magnificent, and it would be an incredible addition to a Red Carpet Worthy collection! Measurements: The brooch hangs approximately 2 1/4" long, 1 1/2" wide, and 1/4" thick. Condition: The pin/pendant is in very good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting. All of the emeralds and diamonds are securely set. The enamel is wearing in some spots, however, it is difficult to see when worn. The center emerald has a few abrasions to the surface but this is also not noticed when worn.
