French, Rose Gold, Diamond & Pearl Brooch Pendant, Circa 1850

About the Item
This intricate French piece of jewellery dates to the mid 19th Century and is versatile in the way it can be used. The brooch pendant is crafted from 18 karat yellow gold and has been topped with silver. The piece has been set with a large number of rose cut diamonds which are all of I colour and SI clarity totalling approximately 1.62 carat. The piece is also set with several natural cultured pearls of which one features as a drop to the bottom of the brooch section. This jewel can be worn around the neck by slipping a chain through the retractable bale, or can be pinned to the garment as a brooch by simply sliding the bale off. For comfort when wearing the piece as a necklace the rear hinged pin can be unscrewed and is removable, to avoid any unpleasant jabs in the chest from the sharp pin. This beautiful French jewel dates to the mid 19th Century and features French gold purity marks and a rubbed jewellers hallmark. An exquisite and versatile piece of elaborate 19th Century jewellery.
