Large Sterling Silver Leaf Brooch c. 1940

About the Item

An enduring leaf that will not change color or season is made by Hector Aguilar, a master jeweler of Mexico, one of the apprentices of William Sprawling. He was manager of the Spratling studio by age 30. Aquilar worked in pure silver rather than sterling. He opened Taller Borda one of the top silver shops in Mexico. This brooch is well balanced and has cut out veins and circles. It is a standout on a black background. Excellent Condition. 3 1/2 inches high, 2 inches wide. Weight 25.7 grams pure silver
