About the Item

A stainless steel brooch. By the American Modernist Jose De Rivera. In a stylized "S" curved shape with a highly polished front and hammered finish to the reverse. Marked to the reverse: DE RIVERA Length: ca. 109 mm De Rivera was an very important mid-century American sculptor and jewelry maker. His works are held in important museums and collections throughout the US. The Brooklyn Museum of Art notes that (in much the same manner as Alexander Calder) De Rivera never actively retailed his jewelry. His jewelry was often given as gifts.
