110 Carat Floral Diamond Dodge Estate Brooch, Circa 1820
Located in Birmingham, MI
Inundating petals of precious karat gold and silver are encrusted with 324 fine, hand-cut diamonds weighing 110 carats. An exceptional jewel and object d'art of, the brooch became a piece of Americana when acquired by Anna Dilman Dodge in about 1920, then the wealthiest woman in the world. One of Anna's favorites, this breathtaking jewel was often worn with the famous multi- strand natural South Sea pearl necklace ensemble she acquired from Cartier for $1M in 1919, from the estate of the last Russian Empress, Catherine the Great. Diamonds each individually shaped to achieve organic, natural flow and are predominantly, near flawless clarity with collection- white color. Following Anna's death, much of the Dodge family jewels were first appraised, then sold or acquired by DiMaggio Jewelers and Gemologists from 1982-1984. The brooch has been held privately, mostly untouched, since. The exemplary crafted jewel features the Georgian era's trendy, state -of-the -art movement technique, which by incorporating coiled appendages to leafy diamond clusters, skilled goldsmiths achieved the Tremblant [en Francais] , 'trembling’ petals effect. Diamond caratage was determined by formula by renowned diamond cutter Dan Fainberg of Jules Fainberg, NY, NY and Anthony DiMaggio...

Old XIXth BROOCH, Enamels, Silver, Vermeil, Antik BROOCH, Burgundy France
Located in SAINT-CLOUD, FR
OLD BROOCH early 19th century, antique brooch, in Georgian French enamel and vermeil silver. Brooch is decorated with an enamel motif typical of the town of Bourg-en-Bresse, in the region of Burgundy, France. French jewel from the Restoration period in France, Georgian period, between 1819 and 1838. dimensions: width 5 cm, height 4.5 cm, weight 14 g, good condition for its age, but I think the clasp needle is not original (hence the price, which is always negotiable). Bressan enamels are traditional jewels exclusively made in Bourg-en-Bresse in the department of Ain, they are made of enamel, fine particles of gold, all set on a mount. The Bressan tradition dates the origin of this technique back to the 14th century from 1397 when an enameller from the city, Master Guillaume, was entrusted with the sword of Amédée VIII of Savoy to decorate the pommel and the scabbard. This regional jewel, intimately linked to the traditional Bressan costume, reached its peak in the years 1800 to 1900, both in their creation and in their distribution. In the middle of the 19th century, the Bressan goldsmiths Amédée Bonnet and Amédée Fornet gave new impetus to these regional creations. In their workshops in Bourg-en-Bresse, they initiated a new genre, incorporating enamel plates, gold sequins, enamel beads and filigree arabesques into colored backgrounds. Georgian 1820 Antique Convertible Brooch 18kt Gold 5.54 Ctw in Diamonds Emerald
Located in Miami, FL
Georgian convertible brooch and pendant. Great antique piece, created in England during the Georgian period, circa 1820. This is a convertible pendant brooch carefully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats and accented with applications of black enamel. Embelished with fine selection of gemstones such Dutch rose cuts diamonds and a Colombian emerald. It is fitted at the reverse with a hinged pin bar with a security hook to wear as a brooch. This piece can be also wear as a pendant. It should be noted that the emerald and diamonds used in this piece are of exceptional quality. Seeing a piece from this period with an emerald of this quality is very rare and difficult. Usually these pieces with that kind of precious stones were disassembled during the later Victorian period to create new pieces. This is a great brooch of great rarity, with an excellent craftsmanship and surely a collector's item. Diamonds: Accented with 8 old Dutch rose cut diamonds, 3.84 carats, white colorless F/G color, SI-1 clarity. Emerald: Mounted with 1 semi round cabochon cut (7.1 x .2 x 4.5 mm) of a natural Colombian vivid green emerald of 1.70 carats. Note: The emerald displayed in this piece, are from the Muzo region in Colombia, with great green color saturation, vivid green and transparent with no inclusions. Muzo is a town and municipality in the western Bocaya province, part of the department of Bocaya, Colombia. It is widely known as the world capital of emeralds for the mines containing the world's highest quality gems of this type. Birthstone: Emerald for the month of May. Weight: 27.45 Grams, (17.60 Dwt). France 1810 Georgian Period Rare Oversized Baroque Brooch .830 Silver Quartz
Located in Miami, FL
Fantastic Oversized antique French brooch. A very nice early French piece, created during the Georgian period, around the 1810's. Carefully crafted in solid .830/1000 sterling silver and suited at the reverse, with a hinged horizontal pin with a hook lock. Is embellished, with a mix of larger quartz gems cuts and small simulated gemstones in paste. Excellent workmanship with black dots and prong set on top of the silver with open backs. Paste, is a gem like material made from a secret formula of leaded glass invented by George Ravenscroft, a 17th century London glassmaker and later perfected by George Strass, an 18th century French jeweler, designed to resemble precious gemstones. This piece is pretty heavy and large with a total weight of 87.4 grams and a measures of 90 mm by 83 mm (3.52 by 3.28 inches). Stamped, with multiples French hallmarks; three times with the maker's maitre cartouche and three times with the boar head, for the assay and guaranty of the .830 silver.
