RARE 1930s Bakelite Patriotic Eagle with Drum and Batons Brooch/Pin

About

This RARE 1930s Bakelite Patriotic Eagle with Drum and Batons Brooch/Pin is a masterwork of bakelite art and artistry of the 1930s and early 1940s. Although bakelite is known for dating to the 1930s primarily, patriotic designs like this persisted into the early 1940s for use as emblems of America's war effort in WWII. Combining red white and blue string with an elaborately carved eagle with wings spread and accented with the drum and crossed drum batons makes for a whimsical yet statement large bakelite brooch. Approximately 3.75" long by 3" wide at its widest point, the drum is laminated red and navy blue bakelite and the carved white drum section is celluloid, making this pin a fully fleshed combination of bakelite, three colors of string and celluloid. This combination of materials also helps date the pin to the early 1940s. Pinback is original, extant, and functions perfectly. Patriotic USA jewelry is among the most sought after themes of figural bakelite jewelry categories, and this brooch/pin would be considered RARE and quite special. Bakelite is NEVER signed.Excellent condition on all accounts including the three color red white and blue string elements. FOLK ART for the jewelry world--bakelite jewelry of this sort always is whimsical, decorative and special.
