The anodized aluminum metal has rich bright colors (turquoise, hot purple, saffron, army green, yellow, red, and blue). Some of the rings are ornate with painted black dots. He eventually opened a boutique, Casa di Spada, in New York's Lower East Side, which sold his jewelry designs, clothing, and custom items. According to a NY Times article from 1992, the freedom rings were introduced in 1991 in San Francisco as a fundraising item at the gay and lesbian community's annual Freedom Day Parade and quickly became a national trend. Located in Narberth, PA
Gold-in-quartz was formed while the earth was still in its molten state. During the cooling and solidification process, veins of gold became trapped with the crystals of quartz in the mine. This created a very dramatic contrast between the white quartz and the yellow of the gold. Jewelry made from gold quartz became quite a fashion statement of the 1880's. During the Gold Rush era in the American West, most of the gold quartz was mined in California around the San Francisco area. A wonderful gold quartz necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Originally an antique brooch, the piece has been expertly converted into a stylish pendant that hangs from a chain. Crafted in 14kt gold, this unusual piece is substantial in size, and forms the shape of a saber sword...
